FamilyCare provides a balanced consideration of individual and family needs. If parents, carers and professionals understand the nature of lifelong care they are more likely to handle the extraordinary demands of twenty-four hour care, seven days a week... for a lifetime.
FamilyCare is a non-profit initiative of Terry Ryan, parent and author of “What about me…” A guide for caring and "FamilyCare". Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Sunnyfield Independence, Wesley Mission, Achieve Foundation, Macarthur District Temporary Family Care, Eastern Respite and Recreation Services, Interaction Disability Services, Giant Steps and ACTION for People with Disability have worked with Terry to reach the thousands of Australian families providing lifelong care of their sons and daughters with disabilities.

A family's journey with lifelong care often includes unaddressed milestones and challenges.
Milestones involve family and personal struggles, supported care and peace of mind.
Challenges are managed through greater understanding, knowledge and attitude.
Like other journeys, lifelong care is successful if parents know where they are going; able to make informed decisions, manage challenges and plan destinations.

What about me ...
Terry and Chris Ryan
‘What about me’ is written from a parent’s perspective; it shows that through greater understanding, parent-carers can manage the demands of lifelong care, run a family and deal with extraordinary challenges; it is practical, thought provoking and offers a way forward.
