"Parents, carers, professionals and Agencies do not understand the nature of lifelong care."

Terry Ryan

Terry Ryan
Terry Ryan is the author of "What about me..." A guide for caring and father of Chris who has an intellectual disability and has been the source of inspiration for FamilyCare.

He is concerned for the many parents and siblings who are not equipped to handle the extraordinary demands of providing twenty-four hour care, seven days a week, for as long as it is needed.

“There is an expectation that families somehow will manage. Unless parents quickly adapt, family life is typically demanding, stressful and dysfunctional... most families struggle, many breakdown.”

Chris Ryan

Chris has mentored many people - he has touched their lives in a quiet and gentle way. As a teacher, he has encouraged his pupils to understand the things that really mater. Through his life experience and inspiration he provides an insightful perspective of vulnerability, sincerity and humility.

At the beginning of FamilyCare Chris intimated "We need to change the world of lifelong care - if one family benefits we have changed the world"...and he has.
